Thats the proximity sensor, it has nothing to do with how the car is opened etc, thats known as "keyless entry"

It's as the name suggests and this is the input for the alarm, is one of the wires orange that connects to it?

Disconnecting/reconnecting should have no affect, so long as the alarm is disarmed
