Roll on barrier free dartford crossing!

Do you think the costs will be the same for running the barriers compared to the ANPR system?less maintenance costs?fewer staff and no reason to take cash anymore could amount to the ANPR system costing less to run than the barriers possibly?
If so I would like to think they will pass the saving onto us in lower crossing charges.

The fines they are proposing are massively inflated I think,not really a fitting punishment for the crime so to speak,£20 would be enough for me to get the message,couldn't pay £20 every time I went through!and they seem to be threatening to take your car away for everything these days!!
The article makes it sound like if you forget to pay before going through you will be fined,surely you will get an invoice for the crossing charge first then a penalty notice if you don't pay?

Just a thought but would this system not encourage tailgating?if you were travelling in a pair or group of cars,could you not split the cost?
