The rod coming of the forkleg is indeed an adjustable steeringdamper.
The bikes doens't steer that quick that it needs one for that purpose, it's mainly there because the front gets very light under acceleration in the higher gears so it's prone to speedwobbles. The steeringdamper is there to prevent BIG tankslappers!

The engine is nigh on bulletproof, used loads in dragracing in the US.
Lubrication system is low pressure, high volume so the only snag is that the turbo rely's on an external pump to feed it oil.
It's the Holleypump on the right, under the engine.

I would like to run more boost next year so after the plenum, manifold etc. have been remade I will probably remove the engine to change the rods and pistons and O-ring the block.
I have a larger turbo for it so 300 BHP at the backwheel will be the goal.

At that power it is virtually impossible to ride it normally any longer but by then the Hardtail GSXR chop should be ready so the Kwak can retire into the livingroom

Keeping the front down isn't so much of an issue as long as you wind the power on smoothly and skip the first two gears

My carbed turbo'd bike was far worse with 225 BHP at the wheel, like an on/off switch!
