Unfortunately I am in the situation where I will find out if I am to be made redundant next week. Even if I am not I think that this is only the 1st phase and so not out of the woods. This is my fith time
I am very interested in retraining. I do love driving and did have a stint a few years back delivering new cars. This was with a transit beavertail and trailer. I really enjoyed the job and never tired of it.
I would like to know what the training is all aabout - advice from those who have recently been through it. I know a medical is required. I am fit and well, I do wear glasses - is this an issue for HGV?
If I do go through with the training what sort of jobs are out there? Will firms want to employ me due to lack of experience? What sort of money is available? I wouldn't mind UK, European or anywhere and stints away from home are not an issue.
If the pay is initially poor does it get better? Is the pay better in specific sectors e.g. petrol tankers, car transporters, special loads etc?
Any help and advice much appreciated
