Just to forewarn you that there will be a £25 admin fee to change the name of the nominee before they can assign it to there vehicle. The plus side is VRO can turn it around quite quickly and I had mine back within a week.
or if you call into a dvla office they can do it while you wait, and yes I can confirm there is a admin fee if buyer's name is different to that on the retention cert
