From what i can see from your photo's, personally, i don't think it looks bad at all. I would cut out the two small sections on the rear chassis legs seen on the last photo, but you will probably find it will only be the outer skin that needs patching. Other that that, id carry on wire wheeling around the spring mounts then coat everything in red oxide/lead. That's what i did with mine then painted over the red oxide. Once finished, I bought 2-3 tins of Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 and filled all the legs and inner chassis parts with the stuff.
