I was going to mention that after your response to the last question... yes it's worth a look, one of the common things is the wires inside the cap disintegrate and short out, which could be the cause or the sensor itself, as I say there are plenty of other things that can cause this, these are just two examples, but you need to start somewhere.

Someone will probably mention the CTS, but I don't think this is the cause by what you describe.
