I certainly wouldnt be pumping 50psi into a system designed to run at 15-20psi.

You risk blowing hoses, heater matrix and the radiator.

I cant imagine an external leak being that hard to find, especially if as you say it is going at a fair rate.

Park it up let the engine run and watch for the leak. Of course, it could be internal too.
