As mentioned on other replies
This is what I use on a daily basis
Fit new diesel filter
Remove pipe connected to filter housing that goes to the fuel pump on the engine
Use the pump to suck diesel through until about 1/8 - 1/4 ltr has passed through
Reconnect fuel pump pipe
Then start engine
It really is that simple
NOTE - I always replace oil and filter first and restart engine then check oil level etc etc BEFORE beginning to replace fuel filter as this prevents the dreaded cam chain jumping due to a "deflated" chain tensioner
