Tbh a German engineered land rover was always gonna be a pretty good bet for reliability.
Two cars I broke down the most in we're my fiat UNO turbo and my first series one.
Never broke down in the second series one or any cossie,xr2i failed a few times and my mk1 gti engine blew but it still got me 10 miles knocking its tits off!!!
Modern car reliability should be pretty good as long as you service them well,I'd say most things 1998-2005 should be relatively bombproof if well cared for, older and your seeing sensor issues, rot etc newer things get a bit too complex and beyond the level of the home mechanic.
I'd say my Nissan vanette is pretty damn reliable,I've heard of them doing huge mileages with no issues mainly cos their so basic, there's not a lot to break!!!
