its a 'the immobiliser' type, they look like a tube with wire coming out when you get to the guts and leave a huge hole when removed
easy to remove in the usual way
find the main box and go from there but you could leave it in and take it out when the need arises

or maybe switch/relay across the system so if it went tits up 2/3 hidden switches will bypass the lot
