What possessed him to even consider one?utter shite, only the older td motors get any cree as its a pug lump which are good of course but even fiat managed to make them bad!!!
Think of a part of the van that could break and it will, electric power steering issues,injectors/pumps/turbos engine wise, typical iti gearboxes, weak as lager at the Henley regatta, electrics are dismal,we had a ducato thing in,same as a pug boxer, worked fine for 3 days then wouldn't start, the key kept flashing on the dash, turned out the immobiliser module had blown, fiats answer?"oh,common fault,£200 for the part".
Just buy a caddy and be done with it fella, much better vans or if he's after a totally bulletproof (but very slow) van,the Nissan vanette gets my vote, been back and forth to aberdeen 3 times now in mine, laden everytime and it's faultless, good on fuel too, never runs above 1/4 on the temp gauge and cost £10 more in fuel than the ka for the same journey.basic but strong and always starts first time, even in -15 degree winters.
Transit connect would be another shout with the tddi motor in it,their good too.
