From what I can gather excess heat can cause it, maybe its time to bring out a quote from Luke whilst he was mapping it and before he gave it his last blast on the rollers he said" I better let it cool down for a bit as its getting fucking hot" which he did and had a fag and cuppa then proceeded.

i know it would of been heat just would of expected to see alot more det damage at the top of the piston for such a crack low down
