It causes no harm blanking it.
It wont fail an mot, it is just useless emissions crap that dosent work properly and clogs up.
We are lucky in the fact that we can blank ours without any managment light flashing up.
It costs nothing to blank it up. If it doesnt fix the issue unblank it then spend money on a turbo control solenoid. I would rule out the cheap/cost nothing things first, before spending money on parts that might not even fix your problem.
Sounds like a plan, I'll take a look on eBay see what one I need.
