Stolen new BMWs has been going strong for ages now, loads of threads on pistonheads and E90post about stolen 3 series and other BMW cars. With my ST I'm conscious of its safety and I was thinking that if thieves have the balls nowadays to come in and threaten you for the keys, a disklok or security post isn't going to stop them, they'll threaten you for the keys for those too. So essentially my security is car gets blocked in the garden and keys are secure. I think essentially the largest deterrent is not how much security you have on the vehicle, but making it as difficult as possible for thieves to steal by blocking a quick getaway.
