Get an el cheapo discovery or pajero,there's a 2.8 td swb on retro rides for a grand which is a giveaway,you'll pull a tractor unit in one of those.
There's also a merc ml v6 for 2k but that will be juicy,under 20 mpg,could LPG it but there's another grand gone.
