Your insurance won't go up either. I was worried about this after I was rear ended last year and my premium went down by £350 after claiming on someone else's insurance.
Bit more like it but actually it's policy specific whether you tell them or not as I never told mine when my Beemer got hit a few years ago and that turned into a £20000 plus claim.
Sometimes it's better not too involve your insurance company,I know a boy who lost about £1500 cos his company started throwing their weight around.
HOWEVER
In this case, inform them ASAP as the prick sounds as though he's gonna attempt to blame you.
Photos are good but get your descriptions in fast and deal with one person in the claims department.
I know your not stupid but be rely polite and decent to the person you deal with as this makes all difference to them.
Personal injury is up to you but if your not hurt don't bother,it'll bite you on the arse, although its obvious your not a liar.
Claim for everything else though, loss of time, phonecalls, time lost from work and so on,can add up to quite a few £££.
Had my transit written off a few years back, non fault, never affected my premium as its come down every year since apart from this one although that seems across the board.
