the 2.5 tdi though is not the best engine at all!!although will go on for ever its just not great on fuel ,its heavy and doesnt offer great perfomance compared to others..

If it has to be a diesel then the 2.0 tdi is far better but for example the mpg from the 3.0 petrol isnt much worse than the 2.5 tdi and is a lot lighter smoother and far more powerfull..

If you can afford the new 05 onwards tdi cab then the 2.0 tdi is either 140 or 170 hp std and with a map will give nearly 200 hp and 350 lb ft and over 40 mpg and is by far the best allround choice..HTH
