Nicer to drive and be in? Have you driven both? We have a Golf Diesel pool car at work (and I've driven several others) The Golf is not a patch on a Mondeo Mk4 - particularly the new Golfs, they're incredible dull and ordinary.

The Mk4 is a great car, and much much more reliable than the Mk3. £7K will get you a decent condition TitX.
