I'd address the smoking before getting it remapped - clearly something's not right. a remap will probably accentuate the problem, not cure it.

What colour is the smoke? Is it under acceleration, or at start-up? Is yours a Euro3, or Euro 4? If you've got a Euro3 it won't have any electrical connectors on top of the EGR valve. If so try blanking off the valve with a thick plate (you can get them on eBay - presuming yours has a front mounted EGR that is.

You also wont get better performance and fuel economy at the same time.
