Tonight I got a kent vernier. I set the engine to TDC marks with the std cam pulley on. Removed it. Set the kent pulley spot on with the std pulley (woodruff mark together, then TDC mark together) and then fitted the vernier to the cam. Fitted belt back on and tensioned it and the cam timing was 5 degrees retarded at the std setting! So I set the vernier to zero and it ticks over MILES better, no popping etc. Smooth! So hoping a road test tomorrow shows the juddering gone. That will do then until I get time to have it all setup

I have this problem although its not a massive problem just annoying more than anything, on tick over my one will sort of pop very lightly every 6 seconds or so on tick over, my idle is set up at 1,500 revs. While in gear and no acceleration it seems fine but ill check that out more when i drive away after work, i have to check my spark plugs today too but im due a new Loom being made as my one is over 20 years old lol and may also be causing the stutter in the otherwise smooth hum of the exhaust.
when i accelerate lightly sometimes it judders slightly from 2 - 3,500 revs might have to get this looked at too, but i think it may be the very old loom ive got or a tiny bit more timing adjustments needed.
