i unknowingly bought a cat b, had the log book with no evidence of it being a cat b. the previous owner had held on to the car for 8 years. There was no signs of accident damage. Put it on my insurance only to recieve a letter from my broker saying they were not going to insure it because it is a cat b. Phioned DVLA who clarified it was a Cat B, the only way to get it back on the road is with a VIC check, which only DVLA can authorise which they wouldnt . Ended up scrapping it, which wasnt too bad because it only cost me £250.
