Some the last of the Sierra's had a 16i cvh (93ish).All the early 1.3,6,8 2.0 were sohc upto 89.

As well as the 2.3 V6 which was available from introduction until 1986. Also 1.8 CVH was available in 89.
OP, yes RST engine is CVH with a turbo, BUT the fuel delivery differs, that being MFI for ERST and EFI (Ford EEC managed) for FRST and also it will be mounted longitudinally so your gearbox/bell housing may not mount!
If it were me i think I would be inclined to fit a Pinto which was native to the Sierra and uses the same 'type 9' gearbox you will already have!
