On the dash on the car it says inspection, 500 miles. This means that it was due a service 500 miles ago I presume. If I take it to a local garage (not BMW) and get them to change oil etc.. Will they be able to stop this inspection thing coming up everytime I start the car?

To be fair the car has full BMW service history but can't be arsed to pay BMW prices as in the long run it probably isn't worth the extra.
