Hi ive just bought a mk4 fiesta and have a strange locking problem. The central locking worked but didnt include the front passenger door at all, I took off the door card and the previous owner had disconnected a cable that clips into the door lock.

I re-attached the cable which caused a different problem which is...

When I now try and lock the car (via drivers door, as previously) the central locking makes its whirring sound a couple of times then gives up, no doors locked! Upon closer inspection it doesnt seem to make a noise in the passenger door, HOWEVER if i try and lock the door via the latch inside (again, passenger door), it will make a whirring sound before pushing the door handle back out of the locked position.

Logic would suggest a faulty passenger door lock or something, however being new to fords I shall leave my logic well alone!

Sounds like these symptoms may help somebody in the know to a conclusion. Any help is very much appreciated!
