He has a mk2 Astra GTE 16v and seemed to beleive the Sierra wasn't as fast.

Now I know the Astra is lighter especially with the 4x4 stuff on the Sierra, he has a 'power cap' ( I presume some sort of uprated fuel pressure regulator?) a good exhaust an an unknown chip, which is how he bought the car years ago. Maybe more stuff that he doesn't know about?

I have not been in the car neither as a passenger or a driver, but have heard a lot of my friends say it is an animal.

Please don't think I have anything against Vauxhalls as I don't and I know what a good reputation the xe engine has I just want to know what power you can make easily without a turbo. He's always said I should stick an xe in one of my Sierra's.

Opinions please
As above, the trans losses and weight disadvantage would make a mildy tweeked Astra GTE feel quicker.

A power cap is a replacement part for a section of the induction system by the way, it's supposed to give more power too

Realistically, going by those mods it would have less than 170 bhp, probably nearer 160 but you never know and as you suggest - there maybe more done to it.
