Ideally yea, but most people dont want to take their sump off to have a boss welded to it.

Hence a lot of people have it the way i said...........

Althou you can get an m14 union and replace the sump plug with it then have an angled adapter fitted so that it returns to there instead of welding a boss on the sump.
