This my not be as crazy as some of the other builds going on around here but for me this is enough, something I can tackle in my own time and make my own... Kinda
Anyway finally managed to get hold of some parts for my Focus Estate and decided to keep things fairly low profile for now at least. Trying to keep most things OEM with a couple of exceptions. Hopefully some good luck whilst part hunting will get me some nice little touches but for starters here is what's been going on.
As per most modifications I started off with a set of rims, something I wouldn't mind using throughout the winter but still give enough of an impression when seen.
Here's what I came up with...
However there was a little bit of damage on 2 of the rims so until I can find somewhere local that can do a good refurb on them I am just going to run the standard 14' steelies.
Then came the fun bit trying to work out how low I intended to lower the car. Since this will be my daily driver for now I couldn't do anything over the top, but at the same time I have huge respect for both the VW scene as well as the 'Stance' scene for making cars look just right so I opted for a set of spring off the good old interweb to make this car look a bit more respectable. So I decided to go for a sensible drop of 40mm, however once I started comparing the springs something told me that the drop was something a little more extreme...
Managed to fit the springs to the front without any major hiccups at all however once I got to the rears I came up against a major stepping stone. The spring compressors I was using were far to big to get the rear springs out so decided to take the damper/lower arm off so that I could lower the spring assembly to remove the spring. The car however had other plans... Two sheared bolts later I have decided to give up and wait until I replace the entire lower arms themselves before lowering the rear end. This does give an interesting look to the car but once I have either replaced the arms or upgrade the rear to discs (not sure 100% what I am going to do yet with it) the car will be dropped on its arse for sure.
I am now trying to find some parts for the interior such as a slim sub so I'm able to keep most of my boot space (hence the estate) as well as a double DIN stereo and a set of front seats, the seats though need to be cloth since I have no interest on replacing the interior for a full leather trim ATM due to having to take both my dogs out on a regular basis as well. Any ideas interior wise then people? What you think of the car? And what direction do you think I should be going with it?
