if the egr is vacuum operated, you can blank it of no problems. If it's electric, you can blank it off but drill a 2mm hole in the plate, that should turn the light out!!

I've got an ST Tdci and love it, i get an average of 49 mpg with a de cat and egr blanked. The de cat makes a real difference in driveability.
I just had to have my Engine ecu re flashed with the latest level software as mine had a warm start issue, when you start it, the eml light would be on for about 5 secs and you couldn't rev it. Cost me £60 at Fords, and it's sorted.
If you have kids, keep a look out for one with the factory fitted dvd player and screens, there are real good quality and easy to add a PS2 onto!!
