Depending on the millage it is worth taking off the inlet manifold and cleaning it up and the inlet ports in the head and then fit an egr blanking plate on reassembly and don't be afraid to rag the life out of it every once in a while. Every car benefits from a good booting now and then.

the st tdci's are very nice cars and well worth considering.

As dan said if its the EURO 4 engine it will bring on the EML light. If its the euro 3 you can block the EGR valve off.

You can tell if the EGR valve has a vacuum hose its euro 3 and if it has eletcrical connector its euro 4.

I had to replace my EGR valve when i got my car but been fine for the past 20k.

I think if you drive them short distance and they dont get up to running temp it makes the egr valve fail.

I drive mine min 20 miles to work and 20 back again so always up to running temp before turned off again.

The injectors are more common to fail on the early 05 ones, ford modified the software on the later ones IIRC from early 06.

You can get injectors remanufactured for around £120 each.

The DMF is as common to fail as any other diesel TBH.

I have a bluefin and a decat in mine and it was rolling roaded at 172 bhp with around 436 NM torque.
