bit of an open question but what is involved in removing and replacing a 1.6 duratec petrol from an 06 focus cliamate like for like
My sons hydrolocked it in some flood water and the engine has seized. Took the plugs out but cant turn it over even in high gear, and looks like the con rods have bent and the bottom of the crancase is cracked under the oil filter
ford want £2800 to fit a recon.
It would be second major claim in 2 months if he claims on his insurance which at 21 isnt the best thing to do
I am getting various quotes off breakers for engines from £400 to £580 most with 6 months waranty
I used to work in the 80s and 90s on Mk1 fiestas and escorts/ orions pre fuel injection but not on the newer stuff
I have a 2 ton hoist and leveller and most workshop tools, clutch alignment tool, coil spring compressor etc as i work on my series landrover but i am wondering what if any reprogramming will need to be done. I assume that all sensors on the old engine and the new clutch it just had fitted will swap over?
Also how do you deal with the aircon, i assume the condensor will have to come out with the radiator first then engine out upwards
Also can anyone reccomend any decent online manuals or is it best to buy a Haynes.
