is the t3 a standard unit? if it is i would use a dv. 22psi sounds a bit borderline on a std t3. if its uprated and can safely handle that sort of boost i wouldnt bother. i cant stand the sound of them either. i fitted a blank in place of the dv and it idles better, starts first time and i noticed no other difference. i prefer not running the dv.
A 360 deg thrust bearing and different size wheels/housings will make no difference as to if you should run a DV mate.
But, IIRC the T series are ok to run without a DV but the newer GT and GTX series have a thinner shaft and are more likely to snap with compressor stall (chatter).
I ran my T3 without a DV (always have) at 30psi and had no problems for example.
