A 360 deg thrust bearing and different size wheels/housings will make no difference as to if you should run a DV mate.

But, IIRC the T series are ok to run without a DV but the newer GT and GTX series have a thinner shaft and are more likely to snap with compressor stall (chatter).
I ran my T3 without a DV (always have) at 30psi and had no problems for example.
