I have joined this forum in the hope that someone can help me out.

I have recently aquired a 1999 MkIV Fiesta Finesse. It is fine apart from it needs a new gearbox. However I would like to do something a bit more adventurous than that. The problem being that I am a complete novice when it comes to this kind of thing.

A few questions to start off with;

What would be the best way to up rate the performance? It is currently 1299cc.

Would a bigger engine be beyond someone like me. (Somebody told me that a 2.5 litre mondeo engine wil drop right in?)

Obviously a new gearbox is a given but what else would i have to uprate? suspension?, steering? etc.
