Yes exactly as you say re the rev counter (Green wire is ground on the coil), they just have basic breakerless ignition.

The switch is by the handbrake itself, it just completes the ground circuit when the handbrake is applied. So a "push to make" switch basically. You may need to remove the little bit of carpet around it to get to it.

That must be one of the first MK2's?
