I asked this exact question awhile ago but can't find the thread.

As others have said modern day suspension, brakes, ALS and tyres make them faster than the Group B stuff ever was. In fact, there were a few stages I was told that both these types of cars did and the WRC examples were considerably quicker.

With regards to how Group B would have evolved, Audi was fed up with loosing and was building a mid-engine replacement that supposedly hads as much as 1000 bhp... Ugly fucker though!
