The series 1 ones were oil cooled and oil lubed. If u run it with no cooling what so ever it won't help its lifespan.
If you want to do it properly u would need the s1 bearing core.
NMS make there own stainless replacement pipes and Karl has just good me they are going to make a load up to sell.
Even with water cooled turbos its still advisable to leave it running to aid cooling after hard driving. I'm plumbing mine into the thermostat housing and using a -6 jic fitting to feed the turbo
I don't think it makes the car run that much hotter if im honest
