Bogg Brothers
Anyone had problems with them i.e. workmanship with regards to bike carb conversions?
Stripped a set of R1 carbs today, the previous owner of the car had bought the carbs, manifold etc.. all work carried out by Bogg Brothers - I have the reciept for just over £600.00 of work done.
Very dissapointed when I stripped them today after experiencing running problems - Needle circlip not seated, just bouncing around loose on the diaphram. There was an extra 'O' ring again just left loose in a different diaphram. The previous owner claims he never noticed but the casing was cracked - typical carb from a crashed bike and in all fairness , without stripping the carbs it would be difficult to notice.
Also it appears that some sort of glue was used to stick down the diaphrams rather than just using them as intended - the rubber outer ring is a seal in itself and needs no additional sealer.
I obviously cannot say for sure that the previous owner did not mess about with the carbs.... but considering they were only bought back last September I have no reason to doubt his word.
Just a heads up for anyone considering this conversion and dealing with the company to give the carbs a good check over and strip down before fitting to the car.
