Hi folks
We have a 2002 petrol 1.6 lx with 67,000 miles.
The engine management light occasionally flickers after starting. It usually happens when the car has been sat for a while, or after heavy rain or it's been washed - damp weather.
It doesn't flash, nor stay on steadily - it only ever flickers - bright, dim and bright again. Once the engine gets warm, it goes out.
No fault codes stored (proper ford specialist, not diy assessment)
Car drives fine and shows no issues at all.
Had read somewhere that water can seep through the washer jets and deposit onto the leads and coil pack. I have from time to time sprayed the whole HT assembly with WD40 and it seems to help.
By the way, it didn't happen all through the summer, just started in winter.
Just to clarify again, the light doesn't flash nor stay on steady - it just flickers for a while (3 to 6 mins) then goes out and stays out for the rest of the journey.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated, we're selling it soon and wouldn't want it flashing on the test drive.
Thanks in advance
Baz
