Driving home and cuts out and won't start up at all!
the pump primes up to metering unit but no further
there is also no spark!
checked the fuse box and the INJ fuse had melted and check the pink relay under the dash and that had got hot and melted the plasic casing to some extent
i ordered a new relay to try solve the problem
will this work?? did itr melt coz of the relay was knackered?
why havn't i got spark? i have power to the coil

Two solutions:
1. check the fuel pump connections. Especially when the earth connection is bad (what you'd expect after 25 years) or the fuel pump is worn the pink relay usually gets hot or melts down like yours did. That's probably the cause that the priming still works but the fuel pump won't run when you try to start the car
2. dizzy connector. The fuel pump relay gets it signal directly from the 3pin dizzy connector. Sometimes the pins inside the connector come loose and the relay won't get a signal. Fuel pump primes, but won't run when cranking.
But first check solution 1. Especially the fuel pump connection.
