That should make the 45 degrees pretty much impossible then shouldn't it?

My Sierra doesn't have that, just teethed splines, but the wheel itself has 5 or 6 sides, and the main shaft/UJ joint has 3 sides. Maybe some mathematician can work out the angles possible from the various permutations?
