driven a few kuga's (and the car's too ) and in my experience the 2.5 auto is the best all rounder. i didn't like the 2wd it just didn't feel right, the 4wd feels much more planted on the road. the 2.0 diesel is good, not tried the 163bhp so can't comment. But i'd imagine a 4wd 163bhp auto is a great car to drive!
