Mine has a copper core Pinto rad and DOHC fans and cools fine. The manifolds and turbo outlet pipes are thermal wrapped and I have a thermal cover round the ABS stuff. Under bonnet temps are lower than a standard 2.9 now. Mine averages about 24 mpg.
