So, following on from my thread about the BMW battery failure, I replaced the battery today with a spanky new huge Bosch item...

Stuck it in the car, went to fire the old girl up and:

Clunk ... Clunk..

Starter motor not engaging , brand new battery, still won't start, so has to be the starter/ starter solenoid right? Try another 10 odd times to crank it, give the starter a good "technical tap" with a hammer, still nothing but "Clunk", and no start ...

So I call the AA, as I can't do anything else now, and need the car tonight

AA turn up, bloke walks down the drive, I explain what has been going on, and turn the key to show him the problem... Of course, the bastard thing fired up as soon as the key was turned ..

I blame the fact that it has been sat on the drive in close proximity to the Cosworths, it is obviously contagious
