i suspect a lot of issues come from people not torqueing in sequence. also do bit at a time, go round 5 times if you need to. when doing heads ect i adopt a similar rule, not one had an issue with leaks using the ''take your time'' method. maybe worth measureing a pattern sump for flatness prior to fitting if you have the gear.
