Damn right - they can be a lot of trouble and expensive to fix, but need diagnosing properly.

Properly done injector leak off test and fuel pressure checks normally point to either injector or fuel pump problems.

If the cam sensor is at fault you get a specific code, same with EGR.

I work in multi franchise dealer (not just Ford) and we still must get 2 or 3 TDCI Fords in a week with running problems. Had Transit in Tuesday that had 2 injectors and a cam sensor, only this morning had an 02 Mondeo TDCI in with excessive leak off from 3 injectors causing FRP fault/ coil light flashing. At £297 + VAT each for Ford recon injectors, gone are the days where you just 'bang a set of injectors in it'
