bought one last year, an estate nonetheless, ran it for the summer and did 4k miles in it. bought it with 100k miles and fsh. paid just over 200 for it sold it for four times that!
All i did was front discs and pads, 2 tyres, coil pack, n/s/f door latch and soldered in a new chip into the imrc control unit & then relocated it.
Great car, mpg not great but easily high twenties when pushing on at 90mph, which for a big car with a v6 engine didn't bother me at all.
Mine was a V plate with no rust anywhere, didn't know they were galvanised?
Would deffo have another.
