It's easy to remove, and not hard to clean, but it is VERY messy! Get a load of carb cleaner or similar, and a LOT of rags/kitchen roll.
It might be worth replacing the rubber manifold gaskets while it's off, unless they're in very good condition. They aren't expensive.
