A good Saph is sitting around £6000 these days, and for that money, you could get into a
really clean STi Type R or Type RA which would school the Saph in every area apart from absolute top speed IMO.
However, for that money, these days you can get hold of a newage STi which comes with a strong bottom end, bombproof transmission, brembo brakes and a better quality interior than early Scoobs.

If you drive them properly then an Impreza will slide its tail out no bother mate. But you've obviously never driven an STi Type R or Type RA... which are extremely tail happy when pushing on.

It's usually one of three reasons:
1. They have never owned one but read the internet and believe all the shite they read.
2. They have owned one and had problems because it has been treated like shit before they got it or they haven't run it correctly; lack of servicing, using correct fuel/octane booster, unmapped mods, preventative maintenance, etc.
3. They've got a mate who had to replace an engine in a 94 WRX three times in 6 weeks because the pistons are chocolate... but neglected to mention it'd been constantly cunted around a council estate showing off to pram face sluts 24/7.
