Quite possibly, but as I understand it all cars have to do some sort of road testing to get everything correct, particularly ECU's. And yes, probably testing is done by someone who knows exactly to get the best out of the mpg and is on a mission to do so, in which case, average joe driving is probably quite different.


Economical driving is a real fine art. Basically, it's trying to avoid using the brakes at all times an keep the car in motion as mich as possible.

If you use the brakes your bleeding off energy that you have put into accelerating, so that's wasted. You use more fuel accelerating the car from a stop than if you kept it moving.

Driving economically requires a lot of effort, almost as much as fast driving as you have to plan loads ahead.

I have been tryin to be as economical when driving recently and managed to get from what was 280 miles to a tank of petrol usually to 330!

It is doable, but requires a hell of a lot of effort!
