From a day to day point of view i would have a new TDI diesel anyday over a petrol there nice to drive good and fuel and have bags of torque.

Although i wouldn't want one to go blasting round the B roads. but as a daily for me the only down side to a modern diesel is the amount they cost when they go wrong.
